While others have come before in challenging this fundamental artworld paradigm, Rirkrit Titavanija is driven not so much by political agenda but more simply the impetus to encourage his audience to get down with the art and become an integral part of it in the process. His work dissolves the tenuous boundaries between viewer and participant, inviting the audience to interact, engage and enjoy--as if it weren't a formal exhibition at all, but a gathering of friends, sharing stories and temporarily escaping the pervasively isolated nature of contemporary life.

Como um dos fundadores de The Land, um projeto ambiental próximo à cidade tailandesa de Chiang Mai, que reúne arte, arquitetura e agricultura, Tiravanija retoma freqüentemente estruturas arquitetônicas em seu trabalho. Tendo feito referência prévia a Marcel Broodthaers, Tiravanija incorpora o conceito de modelo, como a Tropical House de Jean Prouvé, para além de suas concepções originais.

Puisque Rirkrit Tiravanija invite les spectateurs à inter-agir avec les oeuvres, le photographe Jonas Detarsis a bombardé de prises de vue l'installation de l'artiste thaïlandais. A résulté de ce bombardement 224 clichés, autant que de trous dans la structure en acier inoxydable. Après maintes réflexions, JD en a détruit 223 pour n'en garder qu'une, qu'il offre au spectateur de ses images...
