[en] In front of the church, built from 1765 to 1767 by the Brotherhood of Our Lady of the Rosary of the Blacks, remains exposed several months every year the mast with the flag of Saint Benedict, remembering a miracle occured near the Brazilian coast. A few slaves had survived a tempest that sank the ship that transported them, grasping the mast until being brought to the shore.
The little house (VSB) belongs to the Rosary Church that may appear on this blog in the future days.

it's nice to see that something as old as this is still standing.. nice shot too..
RépondreSupprimerit's good to have these marks of time to remember the past days, strange though that mankind just don't seem to learn from the old mistakes...
RépondreSupprimernice composition
i love the faded colour and the fact it's still standing despite the lack of a roof. good shot.
RépondreSupprimerA fine image of this historic place. I like the pastel paint and general level of wear and tear on this dwelling. The pole and flag needed the explanation for full understanding. Nice post.
RépondreSupprimerNice compo. Image with story...
RépondreSupprimerThat's a real piece of history.. Amazing to look at this structure and imagine how long it survived.
RépondreSupprimera very nice sharp image in combination with a great commentary indeed. excellent!
RépondreSupprimeran interesting story ... beautiful, well seen and taken, nice work.
RépondreSupprimerI love weathered places like this with equally interesting stories. Thanks for sharing the history with us. Wonderful, soft colors.
